Furusato Mochi” is a round rice cake made from Sakata jyotsuru (a type of crane) pounded at our own processing plant. It is characterized by its elasticity and elegant flavor. In the early Taisho period (1912-1926), the Honma family, a wealthy merchant in Sakata, had their confectionery shop make Haniage mochi (double-layered rice cakes) and presented them to the imperial family.
